The young man from Saint-Michel-sur-Orge (Essonne), who suffered from multiple bruises to the head after being lynched on the night of Thursday to Friday in Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois, died Sunday evening.

According to the Evry prosecutor's office, this beating is part of the context of gang wars between young people from Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois and Saint-Michel-sur-Orge.

Third victim of brawls in Essonne this year

On the evening of the assault, Arthur was with a friend on the edge of the Saint-Hubert district in Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois when he was attacked by a group.

An investigation, entrusted to the departmental security of Essonne, has been opened.

After this attack, the two mayors announced in a joint statement the arrival of “police reinforcements” for the two municipalities.

Already on May 28, a 15-year-old young man, Dramane, was seriously injured with a hammer during a fight between young people from Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois and Saint-Michel-sur-Orge.

In this case, two minors aged 16 and 17 were indicted for "attempted murder" and imprisoned.

Arthur is the third victim this year in Essonne to succumb to his injuries following a brawl.

In February, two 14-year-old teenagers had died in quick succession, Toumani in Boussy-Saint-Antoine and Lilibelle in Saint-Chéron.
