BRUSSELS - "Italy is a key country for the implementation of European defense projects". Thus the chief executive of the European Defense Agency (
EDA
),
Jiri Sedivy, in an interview with ANSA, in view of a series of meetings with the leaders of the Ministry of Defense and a series of companies, such as Fincantieri and Leonardo , as well as with the minister Lorenzo Guerini, tomorrow in Rome.
"Given the wide spectrum of capabilities of the Italian industry it is possible to find excellence in all areas", explained Sedivy, who, in the context of the future areas of project cooperation identified by the Coordinated Annual Review on Defense (Card), would like to encourage the 'Italy to take the lead of that of the maritime patrol boats.
The EDA is an inter-governmental agency to which 26 member states belong (Denmark has opted out) and has dealt, among other things, with the coordination work for the launch of projects for enhanced cooperation (Peach). Sedivy's trip is part of a tour of the capitals, which was interrupted due to the Covid pandemic.
