The Inn has already reached its apex and is slowly decreasing again.

There has been severe damage in both counties in the Oberland. The district of Miesbach got off relatively lightly. In Passau, the Inn and Danube are currently heading towards their apex, but without exceeding the highest reporting level. At the same time, the sun comes out in Bavaria. Update from July 18, 9:55 p.m.:

The German Weather Service has now lifted the official severe weather warning of heavy rain for the disaster area Berchtesgadener Land. However, the situation is still not relaxed: The experts continue to speak of continuous rain in the Eastern Alps - "partly productive".

A turbulent night could threaten Passau.

The three-river city is gearing up for a massive flood.

Even for the people upstream of the Inn, the threat is not yet over.

The Bavarian flood news service expected levels to continue to rise in the afternoon.

According to current information, reporting level 3 could be achieved in Kraiburg and Wasserburg;

there is a risk of flooding for the built-up area.

Recently, however, there have also been positive signals: the water level in Wasserburg seemed to relax shortly before reporting level 3.

Floods in Bavaria: Highest reporting level on the Danube threatens - warnings also for Inn and Isar

Update from July 18, 8:28 p.m.:

The German Weather Service (DWD) has positive news for the flood-threatened edge of the Alps ready - at least for some regions. The meteorologists prematurely ended the official severe weather warnings for the southern districts of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen, Miesbach, Rosenheim and most of the Traunstein district on Sunday evening. For these areas they had actually warned of continuous rain until midnight.

However, the warning for the Berchtesgadener Land district is still in force. According to the DWD, "further precipitation amounts between 30 l / m² and 70 l / m² are expected". In stowed locations, quantities of up to 120 l / m² are also possible. The Berchtesgaden region was hit particularly hard by the flood. The voluntary helpers of the Bavarian Red Cross are there, according to their own statements, already looking after "several hundred" people who have been evacuated from their dwellings *.

Despite the steady rain subsiding: For the time being, there has been no all-clear for the people on the Inn, Isar and Danube. The flood news service Bavaria has issued warnings for the districts of Rosenheim, Mühldorf and Altötting. "The Inn levels in Rosenheim and Wasserburg have exceeded reporting level 2," it says there. In Wasserburg, reporting level 3 can also be achieved - so built-up areas could also be at risk here. In Passau, according to the information, reporting level 4 is possible on the Danube. The situation will probably relax on Monday. There is a threat of flooding in larger built-up areas or the use of water or dams on a larger scale.

According to the water management office, reporting level 2 could be reached briefly on Monday morning in the state capital of Munich.

The experts are trying to take countermeasures: "Because of the sharply increasing flow rates to the Sylvenstein reservoir, the storage output must be increased significantly over the next few hours from currently 50 m³ / s to probably 200 m³ / s," it said.

Storm in Bavaria: people on Munich's Isar island included

Update from July 18, 5.42 p.m.:

After the heavy rain in the Alpine region *, there is now a risk of flooding for the Isar in Munich and the surrounding area.

On Sunday, some people were stuck on a gravel island at the Flauchersteg on the river, as the fire department announced.

Those trapped would be brought to safety in a boat and a helicopter would secure the area.

Nobody is in danger or injured.

At the Munich / Isar gauge, the Bavarian flood intelligence service expected the river to briefly exceed reporting level two on Monday morning.

At the Freising gauge, reporting level one could not be ruled out in the early morning.

Alert level two means a warning of floods and "overflows".

At reporting level three, there is a warning of flooding in built-up areas.

Severe weather: Berchtesgadener Land under water, "extreme flash floods" possible in southern and eastern Bavaria

Update from July 18, 4:55 p.m.:

The flood situation in the south and east of Bavaria remains tense until Monday.

In many places, the precipitation is expected to weaken until the early evening hours, as the German Weather Service (DWD) announced on Sunday afternoon.

In the affected regions, however, further heavy rain is to be expected locally.

Extreme flash floods cannot be ruled out.

According to the DWD, water levels should continue to rise, especially in Passau in Lower Bavaria.

The maximum values would be expected for the night.

The highest reporting level four could be reached, currently level three.

Rivers in other regions also reached this value, such as the Salzach in the Burghausen area (Altötting district) and the Loisach near Eschenlohe in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district in Upper Bavaria.

The Upper Bavarian district of Berchtesgadener Land had declared a disaster during the night.

Torrential rains also hit large parts of Austria *.

Storm in Bavaria: Berchtesgadener Land flooded - now also flood warning for Munich

Munich - Storms * with heavy rains caused severe flooding in southeast Bavaria.

The Berchtesgadener Land district was particularly hard hit.

Two people were killed there and over 100 had to leave their homes.

Prime Minister Markus Söder and Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann want to get an idea of the situation on site soon.

No all-clear for Berchtesgaden after floods: further rain announced

There is still no all-clear for the region: more rainfalls have also been announced on Sunday In the eastern Alps, rain * is expected on Sunday all the time, they say.

The German Weather Service (DWD) warned of heavy continuous rain with occasional 120 liters per square meter in congestion.

With the exception of the Allgäu, 25 to 70 liters per square meter should fall in the entire Alpine region almost without interruption during the day.

According to forecasts by the DWD, the rain only subsides during the night.

After rain: flood warning for Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Passau

In the meantime, the flood news service has published a "flood warning of risk of flooding for built-up areas".

This affects the district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen * and the city and district of Passau. * The areas are marked in red on the warning map.

Flood warning for Munich too: levels are rising

For regions marked in orange, a “flood warning of overflows and floods” applies - the state capital Munich is also affected. The warning is valid until Monday (July 18) ten a.m. It says: “

The precipitation that fell last night hit the Alpine region and thus the upper reaches of the Isar and Loisach regions significantly. Due to the rapidly increasing flow rates to the Sylvenstein reservoir, the storage output must be increased significantly in the next few hours from the current 50 m³ / s to an expected 200 m³ / s. This means that reporting level 1 will be exceeded at the Munich / Isar gauge in the early afternoon and reporting level 2 may be exceeded for a short time tomorrow morning. Even at the Freising / Isar gauge, reporting level 1 may be exceeded in the early morning
