The Assistant Chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee in the Iranian Parliament, Ibrahim Azizi, confirmed that the claim of the US State Department about Washington issuing licenses to return frozen Iranian assets to South Korea and Japan is not true.
In a statement today, Azizi said, "The Iranian Foreign Ministry strongly denied America's claim that it issued licenses for 90 days to restore Iran's frozen assets to South Korea and Japan, describing it as a lie that aims to mislead public opinion and is baseless."
Azizi added that whenever Iran exerts pressure on South Korea to recover our frozen assets, it claims that it is negotiating with the Americans in this regard, stressing that his country has not recovered a single riyal of its frozen assets with South Korea so far.
The South Korean government is holding more than $7 billion in foreign currency owned by Iran as a result of the economic sanctions package imposed by the US administration on Iran. Iranian ships and shipping companies.
