The Stiftung Warentest has examined FFP2 masks for the second time.

All offer protection from aerosols, but drugstore discounters and Chinese manufacturers in particular are "not very suitable".

Berlin - For the second time the Stiftung Warentest examined FFP2 masks.

The filter effect is high for all 20 masks tested, as the magazine "test" reported on Monday.

However, some of them could seriously impair breathing.

Others would not sit optimally with everyone.

The testers can therefore “fully recommend” the mask “Aua 9320” from the manufacturer 3M as well as the models from Lindenpartner, Moldex and Uvex.

All four provided "very good" protection against aerosols, offered enough breathing comfort, impressed with their fit and tightness and performed inconspicuously in the pollutant tests.

The masks come from providers who specialize in work and respiratory protection masks, as Stiftung Warentest emphasized.

The Uvex mask costs only 67 cents each;

the 3M mask, which is also recommended, costs 2.74 euros.

Stiftung Warentest: That's why the masks fail the test

Because of the poor breathing comfort, according to the Stiftung Warentest, seven masks are “unsuitable”, including several models from Chinese * manufacturers and from the two drugstore discounters dm (model: Mivolis) and Rossmann (model: Altapharma).

Those who wear them are more likely to get worse air than under masks with high breathing comfort.

According to the "test", seven other masks are only suitable to a limited extent due to their fit and therefore offer little protection in the Corona * pandemic.

It is important to check the secure fit of the respiratory protection yourself, explained the testers.

This is a sign that the mask fits perfectly and does not leak: when you breathe out, it inflates, when you breathe in, it contracts.
