Jockey Club rider Mo Zhenhua fell from his horse and died during morning exercises in 2018. The cause of death had earlier ruled that he died in an accident.
His widow filed a complaint with the High Court on Friday (19th) that the accident was caused by the Jockey Club’s negligence and breach of statutory responsibilities and requested compensation.
The plaintiff is the widow Zhong Zhuozhen and another person, Yin Shuxian (transliteration), both of whom are the custodians of the estate of the deceased Mo Zhenhua, and the defendant is the Hong Kong Jockey Club.
The complaint stated that Mo died in an accident at Sha Tin Racecourse on July 17, 2018, but the plaintiff claimed that the accident was caused by the Jockey Club’s negligence, breach of statutory obligations, and contractual obligations, and therefore initiated a lawsuit for compensation.
