In the last days before the closing of lists, in Together for the Change there will be attempts to avoid inmates in the primaries. Horacio Rodríguez Larreta will do everything possible to
stop the third list in the City
, made up of radicals, a proposal that led this Monday to the meeting of the national table of the opposition coalition. In some districts it will be unavoidable, so they will prepare
"rules of coexistence" to limit aggressions
during the campaign until September 12.
In a virtual meeting, the members of the table reviewed the registration of the provincial alliances with a
generally positive balance
due to the agreements in 21 of the 24 provinces. There was an analysis of the most complicated situations, in which the discussions generated breakdowns: in
Neuquén
the PRO and the UCR vetoed the candidacy of businessman and journalist Carlos Eguía, who will go separately for the Civic Coalition; in
San Luis
the front was divided, on one side Carlos Poggi with the PRO and the CC, on the other the radicals; and in
Mendoza
, Gustavo Gutiérrez left with the seal of the CC with the Democratic Party.
Mauricio Macri connected from Switzerland and did not speak.
His silence was interpreted as
confirmation of his distance
from the discussions and less interference in the definitions.
"
It is clear that there is not a single leadership and there will not be until 2023,
" agreed other attendees.
Rodríguez Larreta
asked the radicals to intercede
to avoid a third list in the Capital.
The head of the Buenos Aires government got Patricia Bullrich to lower her candidacy and enabled Ricardo López Murphy to compete to contain the votes of tougher or libertarian positions.
The ballot headed by María Eugenia Vidal will have candidates promoted by Martín Lousteau -Martin Tetaz and possibly Carla Carrizo-, but other UCR references such as Luis Brandoni, Facundo Suárez Lastra and Adolfo Rubinstein announced that they are preparing
another electoral offer to compete
in the primaries.
Facundo Suárez Lastra and Luis Brandoni with Ricardo López Murphy.
The radicals announced a third list in the City.
Rodríguez Larreta's proposal surprised the radicals.
“We can make an administration, but
what is the problem if they are going to compete in the coalition?
It would be different if they were presented outside ”, answered Alfredo Cornejo.
In this way, the head of the UCR sought to make a difference with the leaders who in other provinces
"extorted money by breaking"
the front.
He was referring to Mendoza, his own district, in the end with an agreement between radicalism and the PRO after intense negotiations with Omar de Marchi, and others like
La Rioja,
still without resolution, although in that case for the moment without a break.
In the virtual meeting they did not stop in the province of Buenos Aires, already practically with the certainty that there will be competition between the lists headed by Diego Santilli and Facundo Manes.
For that dispute and others such as Santa Fe and possibly Córdoba and Río Negro, in addition to the City, Bullrich proposed
establishing parameters
to try to control the levels of confrontation.
“The idea is to agree on a code of behavior, so as not to hit below the belt.
It must be clear that our bet is the generals of November, against Kirchnerism.
It is not now ”, emphasized one of those present.
Next week a draft will circulate with the guidelines for "coexistence" for the campaign.
In the case of Buenos Aires,
there were already short circuits
with the strong questions from Elisa Carrió to Manes, and the competition also opens up the risk of divisions in the municipalities governed by mayors of Juntos por el Cambio.
Humberto Schiavoni for the PRO, Mario Negri and Luis Naidenoff for the UCR and Maximiliano Ferraro, Maricel Etchecoin and Juan López for the Civic Coalition also joined. In the coming days, the referents of each district will continue negotiating the lists and in cases of conflict, the political table composed of two members of each party will try to mediate.
