Toyota statement

Just to illustrate how controversial the Olympics are in Tokyo and Japan, today the Toyota company announced that it will not appear in TV commercials during the Games.

Also, the heads of the company have announced that they will not be attending the opening ceremony - even though Toyota is one of the main sponsors of the Olympic Committee and the Games.

This is an extraordinary decision, which reflects how much the games are a "polarizing" event in Japan, and that many companies are not interested in being linked to the games.

"Indeed, Toyota will not be present at the opening ceremony, and the decision was made after a number of considerations, including the fact that there will be no audience," the company said, "nor will we upload our commercials during the games in Japan."

The announcement comes against the backdrop of the country's negative public opinion regarding the game's existence, with a large poll determining that 68 percent of the population in Japan do not believe in the organizers' ability to prevent a large distribution of corona because of the games.

55 percent of the population in Japan said they oppose holding the games.

Toyota chiefs have announced they will continue to support the 200 athletes the company is adopting.

Still infected with Tokyo

Andrei Prosic, a beach volleyball player from the Czech Republic, was found positive for Corona, and continued the fears of infection among the athletes.

He was scheduled to play for the first time on July 26, but will likely be forced to miss the game as he will be required to stay in solitary confinement.

More than 22,000 people came to the games, and Prosic became the 59th infected in Corona among people associated with the games.

Tokyo reported 1,008 new infections in the city yesterday - Thursday in a row with more than a thousand infections.

Prosic illustrates the great apprehension in games: anyone who comes in contact with him will be required to go into isolation, and so many may miss the opportunity to take part in games.
