The indigenous people of the Yanomami tribe seek to defend their villages and lands from the approximately 20,000 illegal miners who seek to extract gold and whose contamination threatens their land and their families.
The Yanomami say clashes with the miners have killed four Yanomami, including two children.
The Yanomami reserve covers 9.7 million hectares of the Amazon jungle, yet miners have already invaded about 30% of this area.
