From July 21, the French will no longer be obliged to cover their nose and mouth in their cultural leisure activities, as soon as they present proof of vaccination or a negative test.

After the lifting of the obligation to wear a mask outdoors on June 17, it is now in cultural places that the French will be able to do without the anti-Covid accessory, specifies a decree published on the night of Monday to Tuesday in the Official Journal.

And this in all places subject to the presentation of a health pass from July 21.

On July 12, Emmanuel Macron took the floor to announce the plan to fight a fourth wave of the epidemic.

With, as a flagship measure, the extension of the health pass for over 12s in restaurants, bars or even planes, but also in all places of culture.

Thus, from July 21, it will be necessary to show white paw with the help of a negative PCR or antigen test, or a proof of vaccination, to enter the museum, the cinema or the theater accommodating more than 50 people. .

Since this announcement, doubts hovered over whether or not the obligation to wear a mask was lifted, as is already the case for festivals, concerts and nightclubs. Indeed, since June 30, festivals and concerts of more than 1000 people are subject to the health pass and, since July 7, for discotheques without limit of people. Therefore, wearing a mask is not mandatory but only recommended.

This rule will therefore now be extended to all places of culture, "

the mask wearing obligations provided for in this decree are not applicable to people who have entered establishments, places and events

" subject to the health pass.

The decree specifies on the other hand that "

the wearing of the mask can however be made obligatory by the prefect of department when the local circumstances justify it, as well as by the operator or the organizer

".

Certain territories particularly affected by the pandemic could thus decide to impose the mask even with the presentation of the health pass. A situation that could well be reality, especially in Charente-Maritime, where wearing a mask is once again compulsory outdoors in 45 municipalities, in the face of the rapid development of the epidemic in tourist towns.
