Fernán Quiros, Minister of Health of the City, spoke about the effectiveness of

the health passport

as a tool to encourage vaccination against the coronavirus and emphasized that "it is not yet time for this type of measure."

"It is an instrument to evaluate its impact, but

it is not yet the time for this type of measure,

" the official remarked at a press conference.

The holder of the Buenos Aires health portfolio thus referred to the announcement made by the Province of Buenos Aires about the extended capacity for bars and restaurants, which will be able to expand their capacity with clients who prove they are vaccinated.

In that sense, Quirós considered that

"details are lacking to understand how

this measure

will be implemented"

in Bonarense territory.

"In the world, health passports are widely used to guarantee the safety of people who do social activities and to

stimulate those who are still analyzing whether to get vaccinated or not

to give them a greater incentive to decide and get vaccinated," he analyzed .

"In a context where all the people who wanted to be vaccinated have been able to get vaccinated, it seems to me that it

is an instrument to evaluate its impact,

" he added.

The minister indicated that "still in the City we could not complete the vaccination of all those who wanted to be vaccinated, so it is not yet the time for this type of measure."

"For the future it would be a measure to analyze and also evaluate the international experience in this regard," he concluded.

In Province

The measure was announced this Monday by the Buenos Aires governor, Axel Kicillof, and

will take effect next Monday

because it is necessary to "adapt and adjust procedures to comply with this new modality," according to the authorities.

The governor explained that in a week the municipalities that are in phase II (which until now had prohibited activities of any nature in closed spaces) will allow a capacity of 30% but with the vaccination certification granted by the Buenos Aires State.

In phase III, which had permission for businesses or services in closed places to use up to 30% of their spaces, it will become 50%, because 20% citizens inoculated against COVID-19 will be able to enter.

Meanwhile, those who are passing through phase IV may extend the capacity of public places from 50 to 70%, provided that this extra percentage has received some of the doses of the antidote against the coronavirus.

In Europe

On July 1, the 27 countries that make up the European Union -except Ireland- activated the

Covid Digital Certificate

that allows travel through the European space without borders for mobility known as “Schengen” without health controls or quarantines.

"It is a certificate of vaccination, diagnostic test and recovery", it is defined by the European Commission.

This Covid passport is, in reality, an official document that certifies the health status of the passenger.

That is,

if you have already received the complete vaccination schedule

against the coronavirus of any of the sera approved by the European Medicines Agency: Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca or Janssen.

Vaccination of children and adolescents

Quirós also referred to the vaccination of children and adolescents and warned that so far there is "no approved vaccine in the country" for this population, but when it is available they

will apply it "as soon as possible

.

"

"We know that Modern approval is in the process, so we are very attentive; then it will have to be approved by Anmat, when that happens, the nation will surely distribute the vaccines and we will apply them as soon as possible, starting with the boys with comorbidities," said Quirós .

The recent donation of vaccines from the United States would be the key to meeting that demand.
