Tensions keep coming up on the border between Israel and Lebanon.
Now the Israeli army is reporting rocket fire from the neighboring country.
Two rockets were therefore fired in the direction of Israel.
The "Iron Dome" defense system intercepted one of them, the other was set up in the open, the Israeli military said. In response, Israel responded with artillery fire on Lebanon. According to media reports, the sirens wailed at times in the Israeli communities along the border. There were therefore no injuries or damage. There was initially no information on who was responsible for the rocket fire.
Israel's Defense Minister Benny Gantz wrote on Twitter: "The state of Lebanon is responsible for the rockets that were fired tonight because it allows terrorists to be active on its territory." Israel will not allow the social, political and economic crisis becomes a security threat to Israel in Lebanon.
"I call on the international community to restore stability in Lebanon."
Lebanon sends a cry for help to the world
At the beginning of July, Gantz offered the neighboring country humanitarian aid.
At the same time, the Lebanese Prime Minister Hassan Diab urged the international community to save the country from the abyss in the grave economic crisis.
Israel and Lebanon are officially at war.
The Lebanese Shiite militia Hezbollah, which is closely allied with Iran, sees Israel as an archenemy.
The last time there was a rocket attack on Israel from Lebanon was in May.
At that time there had been an eleven-day military escalation in the conflict between the Israeli army and radical Palestinian organizations from the Gaza Strip.
