Last week it spread like wildfire in the Isarwinkel: "Da Jaga-Sepp is dead." At the age of only 62, the innkeeper Sepp Jäger, who is known far beyond the borders of his hometown, died after a short illness.

Bad Tölz - Sepp Jäger ran the rustic, cozy and sociable "Jägerwirt" at the lime kiln together with his wife - and for a long time also with his mother.

The inn is extremely popular because of its traditional beer culture and Bavarian home cooking.

The half tapped fresh from the barrel was always brought to the table by Sepp himself in stone jugs with a pewter lid.

If time allowed, the landlord was always happy to talk to you.

Passion for ice hockey and football

Sport was often a popular topic.

Sepp Jäger played ice hockey himself until he was 30 years old.

First at his home club EC Bad Tölz, then at TEV Miesbach and finally in Geretsried.

"Da Jaga" was also a passionate footballer and played with the comrades of the old men from SV Bad Tölz every Thursday on the sports field in Ellbach.

“He was always looking forward to it,” says his wife Rosi.

Lately, however, the grandchildren have been more important than sport

In winter he liked to go skiing.

"He was a very good skier, mastered his skis on the slopes as well as a ski tourer in deep snow," assure the sons Sepp and Max.

Of course, lately the sport has had to take a back seat.

Because when it was somehow possible, Sepp Jäger occupied himself with his three grandchildren.

Wife Rosi says: “Valentina, Max and Kili were his greatest joy and passion.

He was really grandpa from, out and with all his heart ”.

Sepp Jäger will be buried on Monday, July 26th.

The “Jägerwirt” will remain closed throughout July.

It will be open again from Monday, August 2nd.
