On Tuesday, the federal government commemorates the assassination attempt on Adolf Hitler 77 years ago.
At an event at the Berlin-Plötzensee Memorial (12 noon), Federal Labor Minister Hubertus Heil (SPD) will be the keynote speaker to remember the resistance against National Socialism.
Later in the afternoon (5 p.m.), 101 Bundeswehr recruits made their vows at a ceremonial roll call in the Berlin headquarters of the Defense Ministry.
Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer (CDU) and, as guest of honor, the President of the Central Council of Jews, Josef Schuster, will speak.
In the Bendler Block, where the Defense Ministry is now based, Hitler assassin Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg and several co-conspirators were executed after the 1944 coup attempt.
