Japanese publisher Konami buries famous football simulation franchise and renames it "eFootball" while making the game part of it

A whole generation of gamers may not know it, but there was a time when the best of console and PC football was in three letters and involved the supercharged performance of Adriano, Brazilian striker of Inter de Milan then fell out of favor.

Launched in 1995 under the name "ISS Pro", the franchise "Pro Evolution Soccer" ("PES") disappeared under this name to mark a change of strategy, according to the announcement of its Japanese publisher Konami.

"We decided to create a new football engine, aiming to rethink the animation system and the controls of the game. The end result was even more impressive than what we had envisaged", explains the editor of the famous franchise.

“We had exceeded the limits of

PES

to reach a new realm of virtual football.

To mark this new era, we have decided to withdraw our illustrious brand name

PES

and rename it

eFootball

™ ”, he

explains

.

A universal game and in "freemium"

Available on PlayStation 4 and 5 and on Xbox but also on PC and smartphones (Android and iOS), “eFootball” opens a new era for this football game which, at its peak, was in 2007 the best-selling cultural product of France as is now its eternal rival "Fifa" from EA Sport.

In the early 2010s, the franchise of the American publisher tries and succeeds in building a big bridge on its rival and takes a lead in sales as in the hearts of "players" which will no longer be denied.

This is one of the reasons that pushed Konami to evolve its economic model with an almost similar game for all devices and especially free with paid options.

Unveiled at the beginning of the fall, “eFootball” will rely on esports competitions to develop and will allow, from its launch, to organize matches between two types of consoles of different generations. Before making possible the organization of online tournaments bringing together and mixing players on smartphones with fans of consoles or PCs.
