The Roads Department of the Technical Services Directorate has completed a number of projects to rehabilitate local roads in Homs countryside, at a cost of about 85 million Syrian pounds since the beginning of this year.
In a statement to the Economic Bulletin, Eng. Iyad Abdel Karim, Head of the Roads Department of the Directorate, said that road projects are witnessing a remarkable increase in the pace of work and high implementation rates are achieved with the advent of the summer season and the availability of the appropriate capabilities and conditions. Also, a contract was recently contracted to implement several projects for the construction and rehabilitation of agricultural and tourist roads at a total cost of $ 900 million pounds.
He added: These projects will contribute to the agricultural development process and the advancement of the tourism sector. These projects include the rehabilitation of existing roads and the construction of new roads in a number of areas in “Ain Al-Agouz Al-Qalatiyah, a second stage, Ain Al-Nisr Tal Amri, a second stage, the entrance to the village of Tariz, next to Al-Afs, Tannourine, Mushta Azar, a first stage.” - Sayadiyah Highway - Al-Zahhouriya School of Sheikh - Agricultural Road in Al-Hawash - Shrine of Sheikh Aba Yazid in Burj Arab - Maskan Shenchar - Al-Jabriya Sheikh Hamid - Al-Jabriya Al-Musharafa - Beit Khalil Al-Hazza - Tel Shanan Al-Shtayeh” all of which will be implemented upon ratification of contracts.
Abdul Karim indicated that during the next few days, a number of road projects will be launched, such as Al-Diba Road, Homs-Damascus Highway, with a value of about 19 million Syrian pounds. At the beginning of this year, the rehabilitation of the “Talkalakh.. Idlin... Shabrounieh” roads, and the Ain al-Nisr Tal Amri road, and Fahel al-Numeilah, Dahr al-Qusayr.
It is noteworthy that the allocation for road projects for this year amounted to about one billion pounds from the investment budget.
