No fence, no leash and no insight: because a man from the western district could not control his dogs, they were taken away from him.

The animal owner did not want to put up with that and sued the administrative court in Munich.

The complaints about the dog owner had been increasing since 2018: The neighbors felt like they were being "terrorized" during the night by loud barking dogs, as judge Hans Haider put forward from the trial files.

When a policeman stopped by the owner because of an argument with the neighbor, the officer was even bitten by one of the three dogs.

Since then, none of his colleagues - and also no member of the fire department - have gone to the house alone and unarmed.

There is always something going on with the former master of the three dogs.

As it became known at the hearing, the property was previously fenced.

But the dogs repeatedly jumped over the fence and then ran through the village.

In 2019 the first order came that the animals had to stay in the house at night.

The man in his mid-30s ignored that, however.

The barking continued.

In June 2020, he was finally banned from keeping dogs completely.

The reason for this was a wild chase back then.

The man was out in the car with his dogs.

When the police tried to stop and check him, he got scared and ran away.

After the police were able to stop the car, the man released his animals - in the middle of the highway.

Two of the dogs were caught by the local officials and brought to the shelter.

The third wandered around for days until employees of the animal shelter found him.

As it became known during the hearing, the administration at the man's place of residence approached the man several times and sought a conversation.

But he rejected any guilt.

“The others are all crazy” was always his answer.

He hadn't done anything, he couldn't be blamed for anything.

Meanwhile, the man threatened the mayor again and again and spat at him.

The former owner did not appear at the hearing in Munich.

Based on the explanations and the previous history, judge Hans Haider also classified the man as unsuitable for keeping dogs.

The pronounced ban by the community is accordingly in order.

Now it has to be legally clarified how things will go on with the three dogs.

Either the owner is looking for a new owner himself, or the animal shelter takes care of it.

The question is also still open whether the community will be left with the costs for the animal shelter, which have accrued since September. Accommodation is 60 euros per day. Until these two questions are resolved, the administrative court postponed the final pronouncement of the verdict. rs
