A corona case at the Salzburg Festival causes a stir.

Austria's Chancellor Sebastian Kurz should take further action.

Vienna - New corona infections are increasing in Austria.

The delta variant (B.1.617.2) causes the number of infections to skyrocket.

Night-time dining and travel are responsible for the situation, according to the government.

The situation is becoming more critical.

Austria is trying to get the situation under control with various measures.

Now there should be mandatory PCR tests for vacationers from risk areas.

Delta variant: Austria is tightening up night gastronomy

The government's Corona Task Force agreed last week on tightening the catering trade.

From July 22nd, entry will only be allowed to vaccinated people and those who have a negative PCR test.

The obligation to register at events and in gastronomy remains.

The so-called 3-G rule is also to be monitored more closely.

Violations are also prosecuted.

What is new is that anyone who has no evidence of “a low epidemiological risk” with them must expect a fine of 90 euros in the future, according to the press release from the Ministry of Health.

The range of penalties for administrative fines is as before at 500 euros for guests and 3,600 euros for operators.

Corona hammer Austria: Now the mandatory test for vacationers could come

Health Minister Wolfgang Mückstein (Greens) once again calls for mandatory PCR tests for travelers from risk areas, reports the ORF.

According to the Minister of Health, an expansion of the risk areas is also necessary.

The Corona Task Force will meet on Thursday.

Further measures could then be taken.

Corona case at "Jedermann" in Salzburg

A corona case is causing a stir at the festival in Salzburg.

At the “Everyman” premiere on Saturday, a visitor was infected with Corona.

The majority of the 44 contact persons come from Germany, according to the health authorities of the city of Salzburg.

It concerns the seat neighbors of the theatergoer who tested positive.

PCR tests were ordered for all contact persons.

The infected person was fully immunized, it said.

The Salzburg Festival is tightening its prevention concept after the Corona case.

"As of tomorrow, every visitor in all venues must wear the FFP2 mask," said the commercial director of the Salzburg Festival, Lukas Crepaz.
