In the dressing rooms of the Mineirao Stadium in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, there was a strong confrontation between Boca Juniors players from Argentina and the stadium police after being eliminated in a round of penalties against Atlético Mineiro.

Videos show police officers confronting the players of the Argentine club after trying to enter the changing rooms of the rival team and the match referees.

Boca Juniors players were seen on international television cameras throwing security fences and different objects.

In the videos you can see the Brazilian police firing pepper spray at the players of the Argentine club who did not agree with the decisions of the match referees, especially a decision of the VAR (Video Assistant Referee) that annulled a goal for an apparent offside.

During the match, Boca Juniors players protested the referee's decisions.

After the incident ended, Club Atlético Mineiro, on its verified Twitter page, reported that the Belo Horizonte police arrested some Boca Juniors players and also some members of the Argentine club's technical team.

The Brazilian club added in its statement that the Boca Juniors players "attacked everyone they encountered, in addition to breaking drinking fountains and bars."

Atlético Mineiro added that “after the game, the Boca players went down the tunnel and went to the visiting dressing room.

A few minutes later, the Argentine delegation left the venue and, in a blockade, went to the referee locker room ”.

CNN has tried to contact both Boca Juniors of Argentina and Conmebol to obtain a reaction on the facts and accusations of Atlético Mineiro without obtaining a response.

So far, as reported live on different sports channels, the entire Boca Juniors delegation along with their players are in a Belo Horizonte police station.

Police told CNN they had detained three players on charges of "property damage, assault and bodily injury," but did not specify which team the players represented.

The vice president of Boca Juniors, Juan Román Riquelme, spoke with the Argentine sports network TyC Sports after the defeat of his team in Brazil where he expressed his frustration at having been eliminated due to bad decisions of the referees, but did not refer to the aggressive behavior of his players after the game.
