Government efforts are mainly focused on supporting local industrial production and increasing it in quantity and quality under the conditions of the unjust siege and the unilateral coercive measures imposed on our country, which have had negative effects on all components of national production, especially imported raw materials.
Dr. Osama Abu Fakher, Director General of the General Organization for Chemical Industry, indicated to the SANA Economic Bulletin that the measures taken focus on increasing production and reducing costs by removing choke points in production lines, rehabilitating and modernizing them, in addition to diagnosing the reality of destroyed and suspended companies in order to restart them and invest them optimally according to capabilities. He added that there are three important new projects in the Corporation, a project for the production of preform containers and stoppers, a basalt smelting project, and a project to rehabilitate the pharmaceutical vials line. The Corporation has also completed its investment plan, which includes the supply of modern machines and the introduction of new products in companies (Tamico Pharmaceuticals, Umayya Paints, Sar Detergents, Shoe Industry Company and Aleppo Plastic Company). .
As for the production and marketing reality, Abu Fakhr explained that the subsidiaries achieved during the first half of this year a production of about 17 billion pounds, and an increase over the same period was estimated at 11 billion pounds, led by Tamico Company with a value of 7 billion pounds, then the shoes company 4 billion pounds, followed by illiterate paints by about 3.5 billion pounds. Billions of pounds and the rest in other companies, pointing out that the total sales value of the subsidiaries in the same period amounted to 15 billion pounds, while the value of the stock amounted to about 7.5 billion pounds, which is a marketed stock for the benefit of some public authorities.
For his part, Talal Alawi, Secretary of Economic Affairs at the General Federation of Trade Unions, pointed out, with a similar statement, the need to develop the production process in the organization in terms of quantity and quality, in order to contribute to the provision of competitive products in the local market at reasonable prices and high quality, pointing to the importance of preserving the public sector and providing support to it, due to its great role The steadfastness of the people during the terrorist war and its economic manifestations by amending the system of productive incentives and giving greater authority to the board of directors and administrative committees.
Al-Alawi stressed the importance of addressing the deficiencies and moving towards finding sustainable and appropriate solutions to support the stalled and faltering companies, working to secure all production requirements, finding appropriate solutions to the problems of work and workers, and the need to address the labor shortage in the institution and focus on the issue of rehabilitation and training for cadres.
