Physical obstacles are unimpeded and self-motivated, and the will will not be obliterated by illness.

Cheng Chunhao, a recent DSE diploma candidate, suffered from neurodegenerative disease since he was a child, and was transferred to the Red Cross Kennedy Center of a special school from Secondary Three.

The illness gradually deteriorates the ability to move, and also affects the ability to express, and even takes the test longer by 75%.

However, he was not frustrated, and with perseverance, he finally scored 18 points, and he intends to develop in the direction of business.

Junhao's father is proud of his son's ideal results, and praises his son for his efforts to overcome his physical inconvenience.

Regarding the hope of his son's future, he said that he only hopes that he can live happily in the future.

Speaking and writing skills deteriorate year by year

The 20-year-old Cheng Chunhao obtained Level 4 in Mathematics and Introduction to Business, Accounting and Finance (Business Management), Level 3 in English, Information and Communication Technology, and Level 2 in Chinese and General Studies.

Suffering from neurodegenerative disease, he started to walk unsteadily since he was 2 years old. In elementary school, he had to use an auxiliary frame to travel, and in middle school he started to use a wheelchair to get in and out.

Affected by the disease, Junhao's speaking ability and writing have gradually become difficult over the years. Junhao's father described his writing as being more sloppy, and listening to his words also requires more patience.

Although his expressive skills are weak, he also showed his elf side during the interview. When taking pictures, he took the initiative to step on the treatment and rehabilitation equipment, and even said to the staff that "it can be natural."

Self-motivated to overcome physical inconvenience

Since Form Three, Junhao has been transferred from the British, China and Hong Kong Island Minsheng College to the Kennedy Center of the Hong Kong Red Cross, a special school. His father said that he could not cope with the pressure of homework because he was in an elite class. Still do it from 1 to 2 in the morning from time to time.

Fortunately, after the change of school, the school and teachers provided appropriate classroom assistance.

Junhao's father said that his son likes to read, and he will study until 11pm to 12pm almost every night.

He described his son as being motivated, and his family did not have too many demands, and he "has the motivation to overcome physical inconvenience."

Although Junhao has difficulty in writing, he will try his best to overcome physical obstacles, such as learning to write with two hands.

A total of 7 students from the Kennedy Centre of the Hong Kong Red Cross took the exam for this year's HKDSE, and Cheng Junhao (pictured) scored 18 points.

The teacher praised hard work: the first to hand in homework

Jun Hao's Chinese teacher Ruan Shanying also praised his diligence. Not only would he be the first to hand in his homework, he would even take the initiative to hand in additional exercises.

In addition, since a PDF file is used for typing in the HKDSE exam, which is different from the usual "word" file, Junhao will spend extra time practicing the test paper in order to adapt to the new format.

In addition, Junhao had a hard time speaking, and taught English teacher Li Wanxia, saying that Junhao would read English textbooks at home and also took the initiative to answer questions when he went to class.

She described that Junhao made a lot of progress during the two years, and even spoke relatively clearly when taking the oral English test.

Junhao intends to take higher diploma or associate degree courses related to business or computer science.

Regarding the future development of his son, Junhao's father said frankly that he only hopes that he will live happily, and that his hard work can be rewarded.
