When the Isar reaches its peak, the fire brigade only looks to Schäftlarn.

The Isar slopes and the Hachinger Bach are also dangerous spots.

District -

In Schäftlarn, the Isar overflowed its banks on Monday evening and flooded the meadows.

But the floods at the Dürnsteiner Bridge are forecast.

The Free State has acquired the meadows for flood protection.

The Schwebelbach south of Oberschleißheim, the Hachinger Bach and the Isar slopes, which are at risk of slipping, are also under control.

Water management office announces reporting level 2

The Munich Water Management Office has declared flood reporting level 2 for the state capital and the district of Munich.

Water is drained from the Sylvenstein reservoir in order to gain storage space.

Therefore, an increased water supply to the Isar is necessary.

Despite the sunshine, according to the water management office, long-lasting floods in the Isar are to be expected.

The highest water level in the district was reached on Tuesday at just under 4.20 meters in Schäftlarn.

But the continuous rain is over, there is no acute danger.

"The situation in our district is calm," says district fire inspector Erwin Ettl.

But the question remains: are floods, like in western Germany, also conceivable here?

Eastern slope is at risk of slipping

The avalanche prone locations are identified due to the Whitsun floods of 1999 and 2013.

"When it rains continuously, the fire brigades focus first on the Isar valley near Schäftlarn," explains district fire inspector Ettl.

Those in charge of the fire brigade keep an eye on the situation and follow internal news channels.

The Würm and the Hachinger Bach are also under special observation.

But there is a danger not only from bodies of water, but also from undermined slopes: Due to the heavy rain, the Isar slopes near Schäftlarn are at risk of slipping.

The State Building Authority Weilheim closed the St 2071 between Schäftlarn Abbey and Beigarten on Friday.

Since 2000, it has been monitoring the slow movements in the eastern slope of the Isar and measuring whether the volume of the earth is shifting.

Cracks warn of earth movements

In the past few days, the values of the built-in measuring devices have deteriorated and cracks in the roadway have lengthened, the state building authority in Weilheim announced.

The preparations for securing the slope are in progress.

You want to consolidate the slope as quickly as possible so that the road can be used again.

Cracks have also formed on the road on the western slope of the Isar.

The Freising State Building Authority had one side of the Klosterstrasse, which leads from the monastery up to Hohenschäftlarn, closed on a 40-meter stretch on Monday.

“We shed the cracks,” explains spokesman Thomas Jakob.

This is a means of checking: nails are hammered into the ends of the cracks, "this way we can measure whether the cracks are lengthening," says Jakob, "that would be an indication that the subsurface is moving."

Study on the Hachinger Bach not finished yet

When the Hachinger Bach overflows its banks, it does not stop at the municipal boundary.

In 2013, entire residential areas in Unterhaching threatened to be flooded.

The neighboring communities of Oberhaching, Taufkirchen, Unterhaching, Neubiberg and the city of Munich, which is affected by Ramersdorf-Perlach, rely on joint flood protection.

The state capital has an expert opinion drawn up at its own expense, which was advertised in 2017, but is still a long time coming.

At the request of Münchner Merkur, the environmental agency of the city of Munich announced yesterday that the study was almost finished.

On June 24th, the results were presented to the municipalities involved at the administrative level, reports press spokeswoman Gesine Beste.

As soon as the state capital has the final report of the engineers, the city council will decide on further cooperation and discuss measures with the communities on the upper reaches of the Hachinger Bach.

Measures in flood operations

In the event of a flood, the disaster control in the district office takes over the information of the citizens and those involved, such as the municipalities, the highway management and the police. If necessary, the civil protection department calls on forces from the DLRG, the THW and the Federal Armed Forces. If a flood reaches the extent of a catastrophe, the district administration takes the lead, a spokeswoman for the district administration informs. As a rule, local operations managers would be appointed on site. The district has special equipment for flood operations, such as a flood truck, a mobile emergency shelter for 200 people and a sandbag filling system. There is also a high-performance pump that was used when the Deininger Weiher overflowed two years ago. with hot
