Miesbach / Marseillan - Even if the corona pandemic is still slowing down the young town twinning between Miesbach and Marseillan, the district town is quite present in southern France.

For example, ex-mayor Ingrid Pongratz, in her role as Miesbach's godmother, took part in the celebration of the French national holiday and put down a bouquet together with mayor Yves Michel and Joe Brennan, the former mayor of Marseillan's Irish twin town Castleblayney.

The anniversary of the storm on the Bastille on July 14, 1789 is celebrated across the country in France.

In Marseillan, too, this includes the national anthem, which Pongratz sang along as the official representative of Miesbach.

“The fact that I could read the text was well received,” reports Pongratz.

In his speech, Mayor Michel appealed to the cohesion and solidarity of his fellow citizens.

Afterwards there was a drink with a few traditional games at the harbor, which many visitors followed.

“You can find it in every place here,” explains Pongratz, who is currently in Marseillan.

Corona-wise, the incidence is also increasing in southern France, and the digital vaccination certificate will be mandatory from August 1.

Pongratz hopes that the first joint partnership campaigns between Miesbach and Marseillan will be possible at Easter 2022.
