The patients in the two cases arrived in Hong Kong from Saudi Arabia. It is reported that the two are the children of the consul of Saudi Arabia in Hong Kong and live together at Tanggong Pavilion, Taikoo City. Among them, their 13-year-old daughter became ill on the 17th of this month with the L452R variant virus strain.
In addition, there are less than 5 preliminary confirmed cases today.

According to the data from the Center for Health Protection, an 11-year-old male patient (#11968) and a 13-year-old female patient (#11971) live together at Tanggong Pavilion, Tai Koo Shing, Quarry Bay.
The two arrived in Hong Kong via Qatar Airlines flight QR818 on the 16th of this month. The girl became ill on the 17th of this month with the L452R variant virus strain; the boy has no symptoms and the variant virus test results are yet to be determined.

As for the remaining three cases, the 36-year-old female patient (#11967) arrived in Hong Kong from Bangladesh and took Qatar Airways flight QR818 on the 18th of this month.
She is asymptomatic and carries the L452R variant virus strain.
The 27-year-old female patient (#11969) arrived in Hong Kong from Cambodia and took Korean Air flight KE607 on the 17th of this month.
She became ill as early as July 1 and was quarantined at the Hong Kong JEN Hotel in Shitang Tsui.
The 35-year-old female patient (#11970) arrived in Hong Kong from the UAE and took Cathay Pacific flight CX746 on the 17th of this month.
She is asymptomatic and was quarantined at the Regal Airport Hotel in Chek Lap Kok.
None of the patients diagnosed today have received the new crown vaccine.
