Oak hut forest and lots of photovoltaics

2021-07-21T11:05:52.802Z

Photovoltaic systems are a component of the energy transition. Against this background, the municipality of Wörthsee is pushing the construction of an open space system at the Ziegelstadel. In a special session, however, it was not just about the use of the area on the A96 for photovoltaics. Landscape planner Christian Ufer (Terrabiota office) from Starnberg had also set his sights on the area with a view to the so-called eco-account of the community.

Wörthsee - A total of eleven hectares are owned by the municipality at the Ziegelstadel.

About half of them could be built with a photovoltaic system.

To do this, she has to change the zoning plan and draw up a development plan.

This would also allow the pace to be lashed to other areas along the motorway, on which a farmer from Wörthsee also wants to build photovoltaic systems on a large scale.

For this reason, representatives from Stadtwerke Fürstenfeldbruck who are interested in the implementation of both projects were also present at the meeting.

However, this was not further specified at the special session.

The eco account

Ufer made suggestions for upgrading the rest of the area at the Ziegelstadel.

It also borders on compensation areas for the development plan “Special area of food retailers and living north to Kuckucksheim”.

To the south of these areas, two hectares of oak hut forest could initially emerge, according to Ufers recommendation.

It is a light oak forest with species-rich undersown crops.

He knows that forests bind more CO2, said Ufer.

“But we are also interested in diversity.” Most species are dependent on open land, the oak-hat forest is seen as a compromise.

The discussion

Not everyone in the council agreed with Ufer’s proposals and also with the photovoltaic planning. Jakob Aumiller (CSU) reminded that the area had been bought for other reasons. “This is an incredibly valuable piece of land that we could have made millions with. We could have pushed other ecological projects with them, ”he said, referring to the 2014 referendum against the Aldi logistics center. Apart from that, he saw “huge warehouses in Austria where cows were grazing”. Dirk Bödicker (WA) was bothered by the size of the photovoltaic system. “Then we could have made a warehouse underneath.” With a view to CO2, he would find reforestation more sensible, “even if species protection is important”. Ufer agreed with him,but the community still has the opportunity to do so at the Ziegelstadel and other areas. "You are one of the very few communities that have a lot of potential and can relax when it comes to the eco-account".

profitability

Robert Sing from the engineering office of the same name from Landsberg informed about the possibilities of citizen participation in the generation of regenerative energy. And also the upgrading of areas via the eco-account. Sing has already advised the Berg community on their wind power project, and he is on the boat for the Gilching community's open space system. A six-hectare facility is definitely profitable, even larger would be better. With an eleven hectare facility, for example, the return would be 5 to 7 percent, he estimated the investment at 6.8 to 7.3 million euros, and it could be put into operation in the summer of 2023. The collaboration with the Wörthsee farmer and his systems could also be of interest. “If you have broad citizen participation, you also have acceptance.“Because even in the local council some of them winced at the sight of the cards thrown on the wall, on which the facility at the brick barn and that of the farmer along the Lindau autobahn were marked in red. Sing broke the hope that the energy issue could be solved with one or two lower wind turbines: “A wind turbine with a hub height of 80 meters cannot be operated economically. You have to calculate the tree height times three. We just have less wind down below. "You have to calculate the tree height times three. We just have less wind down below. "You have to calculate the tree height times three. We just have less wind down below. "

So it goes on

The majority of the council decided to have almost three hectares of the area at the Ziegelstadel developed as an oak hut forest.

More measures for an eco-account are not planned for the time being - the remaining part of the area is to be developed as a location for photovoltaics.

"Everyone is in favor of the energy transition, but then such a system is too big for them", criticized Mayor Christel Muggenthal, the skepticism against photovoltaics that still exists in the council.

She likes the oak hut forest, “but the trees take years to store CO2.

But we have to save CO2 now. "
