A policeman was killed and another injured in the leg, he said, without indicating whether the protests in Mahshahr were linked to those which have shaken Khuzestan since last week against the water shortage.
The province has been hit since the end of March by a drought causing protests in several cities.
A person had already been killed Friday during the demonstrations in the city of Chadégan, provincial capital.
The area was one of the hot spots of the wave of protest against power in 2019.
