While the White House is studying allowing remittances to be sent to Cuba, Robert Menéndez, chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee in the United States Senate, backed the plan announced by the president, Joe Biden.

Menéndez, who is a key figure in everything that has to do with Cuba in Congress, said: "we must ensure that remittances go directly to Cubans, not to the pockets of the regime."
