The US women's soccer team falls to Sweden in their Olympic debut

The team hoped to redeem itself after losing to Sweden in the quarterfinals at the Rio 2016 Games. Wednesday's loss made it harder to win gold.

The United States women's soccer team was overwhelmed by Sweden this Wednesday in its premiere at the Tokyo Olympics, the same rival that left it out of the Rio 2016 Games.

Sweden beat the Americans 3-0, a devastating start for the reigning World Cup champions.

The United States entered the Tokyo Olympics hoping to become the first women's team to win Olympic gold after winning the Cup. But Wednesday's defeat makes it more difficult.
