The training center of the air landing and air transport school in Altenstadt was honored on Tuesday by the European air transport command.

Altenstadt - An education that only exists in this form at the air landing and air transport school in Altenstadt has now been honored by the highest authority: The commanding general of the so-called EATC (European Air Trans Command), i.e. the European air transport command, Major General Andreas Schick presented on Tuesday a certificate confirming the European uniqueness of the training center.

This is because it is able to simulate an entire airport without actually intervening in flight operations.

This includes, for example, training in virtual reality.

Course participants are enabled to virtually load an airplane using glasses and two controllers, similar to a video game.

All transport machines in the EATC fleet can be displayed and integrated into the training.

"This is a real milestone in the training landscape and will help us to train members of our partner nations realistically from now on," said Lieutenant Colonel Udo Francke.

Models of so-called loading trainers on a scale of 1: 1 are also used in the course.

Here soldiers can actually practice loading the cargo holds.

Major General Andreas Schick found many words of praise for the "Air Movement Training Center", as the training center is officially called: high-quality training, excellent instructions and the willingness to work in a multinational team (as it corresponds to real operations) characterize it Course out there.

The training center is now receiving the certificate for this.

It should also be a motivation to continue successfully, to continuously improve processes and to adapt to requirements.

Seven member nations belong to the EATC, explained Schick: Germany, Belgium, Spain, France, Italy, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.

Soldiers from these nations as well as other NATO partners regularly take part in courses in Altenstadt.

Participants from different nations were also present at the roll call.

The certification was a great honor, thanked Lieutenant Colonel Udo Francke, who accepted the certificate.

They started with an idea that was developed in the barracks in Altenstadt.

The focus was on the question of how to improve training.

In Altenstadt, career-relevant courses for NCOs and officers have been held for years in the field of air handling.

Due to the close cooperation with the EATC, the training center was finally launched in 2018.

Press officer Tim Reinhold explained that this has recently played a key role in the repatriation from Afghanistan, for example.

So it was tried out how the material should be loaded and transported and then carried out exactly that way.
