Hours after it was known that the Government sent a letter to Russia demanding doses of the second component of the Sputnik V vaccine, the opposition asked the Executive to

give answers in Congress

.

It was the deputy of Together for Change and president of the PRO bloc in the lower house, Cristian Ritondo, who warned that the situation

"deeply worries"

and that they are already speaking in that space to request "more information" from the Government.

"This letter deeply worries us because there

are millions of Argentines who are waiting for the second dose

of Sputnik and we do not know when or how, and until now it has not been discovered what other vaccine complements Sputnik to have the second dose," he said in an interview with

CNN radio

.

Ritondo is one of the almost seven million Argentines who received the first dose and awaits the application of the second component to complete the vaccination schedule.

According to official data, 9,375,670 doses of component 1 and 2,493,160 of component 2 were applied in the country. Thus, there are 6,882,510 people waiting to complete the vaccination schedule.

This Thursday, a letter that the presidential adviser Cecilia Nicolini sent to the Russian Investment Fund was made public, demanding that more doses of the second component be sent.

In that letter, Nicolini warns that the situation is "critical", he points out that the Government is evaluating the contract with Russia until it is canceled and maintains that President Alberto Fernández is disappointed by the failure to ship vaccines.

Shortly afterwards, the presidential adviser, who was one of those in charge of carrying out the negotiations with the Russian authorities together with the Minister of Health, Carla Vizzotti, assured that the letter "was not a threat" and specified that and "almost all of the countries have complained to the laboratories for non-compliance ".
