Only a quarter of medical staff feel satisfied with their mental coping during the corona period, according to a special report published by the Division of Care Quality, which deals with the attitudes and perceptions of staff in hospital preparedness.

Also, only 73% agreed that there was adequate medical equipment and protection, and only 62% positively rated the quality and safety of care.

The survey questionnaire was answered by 663 staff members - doctors, nurses and other ranks, to whom statements were presented, and to whom they had to answer whether they strongly agreed or did not agree at all.

The survey was distributed in 25 general hospitals across the country.

About half (48%) of the survey poor were from the corona wards, and about a quarter (26%) were from the corona intensive care units.

Over half of the surveyed poor were nurses (58%) and about a third were doctors (35%).

The erosion components of the teams were measured on the basis of feelings of exhaustion and cynicism, while on the other hand, a sense of ability and generosity were measured. The scores indicate moderate-high emotional exhaustion along with low cynicism, in the face of a high sense of ability. Divided into wards, it is evident that Corona intensive care teams feel a higher level of exhaustion and cynicism, compared to staffs in wards and Corona at the Corona ward.

Regarding the patient experience, only 40% of the staff thought that their training matched the work needs, while 25% thought that the workforce mix matched the situation on the ground.

Segmenting the results of the survey by professional sectors, a significant difference was found between the doctors and the nurses: the doctors gave a higher score to the current situation, with 71% of the doctors assessing the quality of care as optimal in their hospitals, compared to 54% of the nurses.

In addition, nurses were found to report higher mental exhaustion (62%) than physicians (38%).

It was also found that intensive care workers rated themselves with relatively high mental exhaustion (30%).

According to the Ministry of Health, following the outbreak of coronary heart disease, there are 213 staff members absent from work, of whom 122 are vaccinated against the virus and 91 are in isolation.

Divided by sectors, there are 24 verified physicians, alongside 32 nurses.

Patient experience: High satisfaction with hospitalization

The survey also examined patients' satisfaction with treatment in corona wards. The survey findings elicited medium-high satisfaction with the hospitalization, with 75% being very satisfied to a very high degree, while only a quarter were moderately and slightly satisfied. The level of satisfaction decreased in matters of relieving the feeling of loneliness by the staff, a situation that was forced on the patients due to the fact that they could not stay with their family members, this was due to the isolation conditions of the corona wards.

In a gender segmentation, it appears that overall satisfaction with hospitalization was higher among men (56%) than among women (44%). According to reports from the Ministry of Health, men deteriorated more rapidly into a state of serious illness, and therefore had to be hospitalized. Also, the number of men who died from corona is higher than the number of women.

The report's conclusions and recommendations address clinical, educational, and administrative aspects.

Among other things, it has emerged that hospitals must provide adequate protective equipment for corona staff, reduce their concern for their health while caring for patients, and encourage free expression among staff if exposed to anything that could harm the patient.

In relation to patients, a policy and mechanism for family visits should be developed, especially among patients with special needs and patients who are prone to death.
