(CNN) -
A wide range of corporate websites, from FedEx to McDonald's, experienced outages on Thursday.
Akamai and Oracle, two key Internet infrastructure service providers, reported system outages.
However, it is unclear if the Akamai and Oracle issues are related to website outages.
In a statement on its website, Akamai said it is actively investigating "an emerging problem with the Edge DNS service."
Akamai's Edge DNS service helps route web browsers to their correct destinations and also provides a security service.
Oracle said on its website that it was investigating multiple issues in its cloud infrastructure business, including its cloud computing platform and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Console.
Oracle said it had identified a "potential root cause" for the cloud computing disruption, but as of 12:24 on Thursday, it was still investigating the issue related to the Cloud Infrastructure Console.
