The Feldafing town hall brings a new possible location for a fire station into play: south of the TSV sports field on Starzenbach.

It was actually already clear that the new building should be at the “Makarska Grill”.

Feldafing - The Feldafing municipal council has been looking for a location for a new fire station for years. Five locations were discussed: the property at Dr. Appelhans-Weg, on which the dilapidated fire station now stands, Lipp-Wiese south of Wettersteinstraße, the old clinic area in the center of the village, an area opposite the train station and the area of the “Makarska Grill”. Now the journey is going completely different: The local council decided with 9: 5 votes to conduct a location analysis for a meadow south of the TSV site on Starzenbach in the landscape protection area and to adapt the fire brigade requirements plan.

In May it became known that the local council favored the “Makarska Grill” as a fire brigade location. There was no decision to do so, but there was a general mood after feasibility studies for all locations were presented in a closed session in March. Now there is a new proposal: a meadow south of the TSV sports field in the southwest of the community. This location should be subjected to an analysis, the local council decided against the votes of the Greens.

The fire brigade was not happy with the “Makarska Grill”, nor were the innkeepers and especially the riflemen (we reported). "We have no substitute solution for the economy popular with many and not for the Schützen either," said Mayor Bernhard Sontheim. "We are endangering the existence of the old shooters." Many Feldafingers would have spoken to him at that. This is one of the reasons why he convened a round table made up of the fire brigade, old shooters, fire brigade consultant and parliamentary group spokesman for the beginning of July. After it became known in the meantime that the Bundeswehr site could not be available until 2028 at the earliest, Sontheim saw an opportunity for the meadow at the TSV sports field as a location for a new fire station.

"Up until four or five weeks ago we had the prospect of a 31-hectare site," Sontheim reminded the local council.

With the cancellation of the Bundeswehr, this is no longer the case.

"That's why I think the chance of entering a landscape protection area removal procedure there is not that bad."

The planning takes longer than at the “Makarska Grill”, where no development plan would have been necessary.

For the removal procedure, the municipality must draw up a development plan, then the district council decides whether the area may be removed from the landscape protection area.

The protection of the landscape is not the only hurdle of the area. The community bought the area 25 years ago as a meadow. At that time, an improvement clause was agreed with the seller: If the area becomes building land before 2026, he will receive an additional payment. "We have to compensate for the added value to the purchase price," explained Sontheim. He estimates that the price will be in the range of commercial property. Nevertheless, he pushed for a municipal council resolution “so as not to lose more time”. The Skorka office is to prepare a feasibility study. At best, a final decision on the development of the site could be made in the fall. According to Sontheim, the fire brigade would be satisfied with the location. Because many members lived in the neighborhood next door, the travel time would be significantly reduced.

Garatshausen's district spokeswoman Imke Schmid referred to landscape protection. “Actually, we had found a location. We want to become a climate-neutral community, which is why we shouldn't seal additional areas outside. ”The Greens also disagreed. Stephan Zeckser referred to the special ensemble that this landscape protection area forms together with the biotope on the Tutzing side. “I think it's dramatic to go out there,” said Anton Maier.
