Not even Loisach-Hochwasser can stop Wolfratshauser choreographer Dominik Halamek: At the river festival he offered a top-class musical medley evening - albeit on a spontaneously set up stage.

Wolfratshausen - The Weilheim water management office said "No" to the stage on the Loisach and unceremoniously blocked the area on the old raft landing (we reported).

The Loisachhalle was occupied with another event.

There was a shortage of fear that Dominik Halamek would have to cancel his “Summer Night” for Tuesday evening as part of the river festival.

The salvation for a fun summer evening came almost at the last minute.

“Such an action would never have been possible anywhere else,” says the experienced showman Halamek, praising the great support in his hometown.

The stage moved at short notice

On Monday evening, headmaster Frank Schwesig gave the green light for the middle school's playground on a short official channel.

And with unbelievable “WoManpower”, the town hall team around culture manager Marlene Schretzenmaier lent a hand.

A professional stage with LED-animated set designs provided the appropriate backgrounds.

After the third gong and words of thanks from Halamek, Schretzenmaier and the cultural advisor of the city council, Alfred Fraas, it finally started.

In the Chevrolet to the appearance

And how fitting. The school yard quickly became "Rydell High" from the musical Grease. An original Chevrolet brought the brisk actors to the stage, driving around the audience. What a start! The good "Sandy" and her cool "Danny" didn't need an hour and a half (like in the film) to adore themselves in sexy outfits. At Halamek's “Summer Night” everything went very quickly, and hey presto, “Dirty Dancing” legends Johnny and Baby danced at “Time of my Life”. The lifting figure succeeded straight away. Then it went on to the next musical in no time. With funny interludes and a constantly increasing tempo and more and more vocal security. In the “Starlight Express”, “The Lion King” went to the “Greatest Showman” in the “Moulin Rouge”.

Even the pink Indian Abahachi dances at the river festival

To reproduce the multitude of all titles here would blow up the space.

For this year's “Summer Night”, Halamek mixed the most famous and touching tracks of his favorite musicals with skillful ease.

Contrary to what had been announced, “The Phantom of the Opera” and “Cats” fell behind in favor of the “Miniature Sparkling Diamonds” medley from the Broadway musical “Moulin Rouge”.

In addition to other great poses such as from “King Ludwig” and “Elisabeth”, there was always slapstick so that it didn't get too dramatic.

Among other things, Dominik Halamek himself was widely acclaimed in the pink Indian costume alias Abahachi from the "shoe of Manitu".

The accomplished troupe of musical performers, with whom he has been on tour for a number of years, were not only vocal stunts.

The fire dancer was literally hot.

And then the Queen Medley “We Will Rock You” and with a hammer guitar riff by Stefanie Bloch (Kitty).

Not to forget the incredible umbrella staging for Mary Poppins “Chim Chim Cheree” and the many join-in dance activities including the legendary “Time Wrap” from the Rocky Horror Picture Show rounded off the grand evening.

City in motion?

But how!

From the quick alternative plan to the last dance step.

Everything done right.

That there was no more time to rehearse an encore?

For free.

Then hopefully there will be two at the next river festival in 2023.
