Moscow-Sana
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov expressed his hope that a new round of meetings of the Syrian Constitution Discussion Committee will be held in Geneva soon.
At the start of his talks with the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen in Moscow today, Lavrov said that "this is a good opportunity at this stage to exchange views and assessments."
On the other hand, Lavrov indicated that the stability in Syria is not accompanied by the efforts of the international community to resolve humanitarian issues and restore infrastructure for the safe return of Syrian refugees, expressing his hope that the situation will change for the better with the implementation of Security Council Resolution No. 2585 related to extending the delivery of humanitarian aid to Syria. .
For his part, Pedersen considered that the progress of the political settlement process for the crisis in Syria requires the same common understanding related to solving the humanitarian issues in the country, pointing to the international meetings he held earlier on the situation in Syria and at the same time noting the Russian support for his work.
On the fourth of this month, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin and the Russian President's special envoy to Syria, Alexander Lavrentiev, discussed with Pedersen a solution to the crisis in Syria.
