New Delhi-SANA

The Indian Ministry of Quota announced today that it has recorded more than 45,000 cases of “black fungus” in the past two months, the fungal disease that has a death rate of more than 50 percent and is spreading especially among people infected with Covid 19.

AFP quoted Deputy Health Minister Bharati Praveen Pawar as saying in parliament that "more than 4,200 people have died due to "moldyomycosis", which is usually a rare disease, but it has spread in India among people who have recovered from the disease.

Corona.

This highly aggressive fungal disease has forced surgeons to remove the eyes, nose, and jawbones of some patients to prevent infection from reaching the brain.

According to the Indian government, the western state of Maharashtra is the most affected by this disease, with 9,348 cases recorded.

The “mold” disease known as black fungus is caused by organisms called molds that can enter the body through breathing or skin injuries.

People with diabetes, weak immune systems, and people who have had organ transplants are most at risk of contracting this disease.

Before the Covid-19 pandemic, India recorded only 20 cases of this disease annually.

Experts attribute the significant rise in the number of people infected with this disease to the excessive use of steroids to treat Covid-19 patients.

In view of the increase in the number of people infected with the black fungus, the Indian government announced last May that this disease has become an epidemic.

According to government figures, the number of cases of this disease reached its peak in May and June, before declining significantly.

According to the Hindustan Times, there has been an increase in cases of this disease among children in the northern state of Rajasthan.
