The new playground in Burgrain has now been inaugurated.

But residents are particularly concerned about the drainage.

Burgrain

- It took

less than

a minute for the children - especially the second and fourth grades of the Burgrain elementary school - to take over the new playground in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district on the area of the former football field on the Loisach. They happily slipped, climbed and jumped on the custom-made play equipment. Before that, during the official part of the well-attended opening ceremony on Tuesday afternoon, the boys and girls had cut a symbolic ribbon with scissors, sang and wrote: “The playground is finally here. We are happy - hurray. ”There was also free ice cream, sesame pretzels and sunshine.

Vice-Mayor Claudia Zolk (CSB) was visibly satisfied: "We are happy that the playground is finally open," said the local politician.

Because: "Playing, sport and exercise are the most important things children need." The church blessing for the facility, which bears the name "Burgi", was given by the Protestant pastor Irene Konrad and her Catholic colleague Josef Konitzer.

He even brought his guitar with him and started singing Christian songs with the small and large guests, including some local councilors.

The market town, which sees itself as a child-friendly municipality and involved the young citizens in the planning of the leisure area, is paying quite a bit for the whole thing: the current calculations are based on around 120,000 euros. A compost toilet is to be added next year, which is expected to cost a further 15,000 to 25,000 euros. It should be set up just outside the fenced playing area. As reported, the project had to struggle with a number of problems: with a time delay, with additional costs and time-consuming rework. Since the water did not drain properly, the floor had to be replaced - even though the playground equipment was already installed.

And there is a discussion with local residents. They fear, as was heard, that they will feel the consequences of the drainage on their property. You are wondering why the drainage was not placed on the Loisach. Because then there is the risk of a backlog, it says on the part of the community. This technical question has been clarified with a hydraulic engineering specialist. “It works,” says Zolk. Even with heavy rain like last weekend, the water seeps away on the spot.
