156 billion euros: such is the cost, per year, of noise in France. This dizzying figure was obtained, via a study conducted by the National Noise Council (CNB) and the Ecological Transition Agency (Ademe), by measuring the health and non-health effects of these multiple nuisances on society. Pollution which, according to the study,
"constitutes a major concern of the French in their daily life"
and poisons the lives of 25 million of them. Because noise has serious consequences on their health, which we can now measure.
"We are now able to quantify the part due to noise in an illness,"
confirms Fanny Mietlicki, director of Bruitparif and also responsible for the CNB's environmental health commission.
