Between poetry, story and translated literature, the Syrian General Book Organization presented a diverse blend that differed in its content and style, but it participated in providing a rich and varied content that combines pleasure and benefit.
In the poetry collection “Hala al-Ahla” written by poet Zuhair Hadla and illustrated by artist Qahtan al-Tala’a, we find various poems accompanied by beautiful and bright drawings that urge children to dream, discover, love the earth and glorify peace.
The poetic verses within the group were formulated with simple, easy words and a poetic sentence that harmonizes in its flow with its vocabulary and with graceful music in its weights and rhymes.
Beauty was the first value that the poet tried to convey to the same child in terms of text topics that carried noble human and educational values.
As for the story collection “We are Not Young”, written by the writer Omaima Ibrahim and illustrated by Zubaida Al-Tala’a, we read a number of stories about willows and water, about the lives of children during the war, the importance of caring for trees and preserving water, and the dream of battle soldiers who defend the homeland by meeting their loved ones.
In her stories, the writer addressed children who suffered from war and overcame feelings of sadness and despair and did not surrender to it and lived jokingly for love and homeland and dreaming of a better tomorrow.
In the translated literature, we read the story “What a Barn” by Hans Wilhelm, the well-known German writer, Arabizing Faten Mortada. It tells about the story of Franklin the sheep, who belongs to a family that does not like cleanliness, but he was able to change its behavior.
It is noteworthy that the poet Zuhair Hadla holds a Bachelor of Arts and is a member of the Poetry Society of the Arab Writers Union. A number of poetic works have been published for adults and children in Arab and foreign newspapers and magazines.
As for Omaima Ibrahim, she is a member of the Arab Writers Union and holds a BA in educational sciences. She has published several publications in the field of poetry and children's literature.
