Moscow-Sana

Russia warned today that terrorist organizations are strengthening their presence in northern Afghanistan as a result of the hasty withdrawal of the United States from that country.

Sputnik news agency quoted Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko as saying that the northern provinces of Afghanistan are rapidly turning into new hot spots as a result of the hasty withdrawal of US forces, as the “Taliban” movement, banned in Russia, controls the entire border with Tajikistan, adding that many other terrorist organizations Especially the “ISIS” organization and “Al-Qaeda” branches, which are also banned in Russia, are working to strengthen their positions.

Rudenko also warned that as a result of the process of recruiting people from Central Asia into the ranks of these terrorist organizations, drug production has been raised to record levels in Afghanistan.

The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister explained that Moscow is ready "if necessary" to take measures to prevent aggression against Tajikistan or regional provocations in accordance with the Russian-Tajik strategic partnership and alliance, pointing out that Russian forces at the 201 military base in Tajikistan are conducting continuous exercises for this reason.

Yesterday, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov expressed his country's concern over the sharp deterioration of the situation in Afghanistan, pointing out that Russia, with its partners in the Collective Security Treaty Organization, as well as the countries neighboring Afghanistan, are in constant contact regarding developments in the situation in this country.

It is noteworthy that the US administration announced the decision to withdraw its forces from Afghanistan next September, after two decades of aggression following the September 2001 attacks.
