However, the flight costs are a lot higher than in 2019.
Those who want to go on vacation this year have to dig deeper into their pockets than they did before the corona pandemic.
This is now shown by an analysis of the comparison portal Check24.
Airfares between July 1 and September 30, 2021 are

than in the same period in 2019.

. "The increasing demand is driving the airfares up", explained Sebastian Sager, managing director of flights at Check24, according to the announcement. "If you are planning a vacation for late summer or autumn, you should take care of the flights soon, before prices continue to rise or the preferred connection is fully booked," says the expert. If a booking had been made in May for this period, the average price level would have been 16 percent higher. The increased prices are therefore related to the lower capacities, as airlines are planning more cautiously due to the Corona crisis.

For popular
travel destinations such as Italy and Croatia
, flight prices have also increased compared to the pre-Corona period. Those who want to fly to Italy now pay around 16 percent more for flights, while 13 percent more money has to be put on the table for Croatia.
According to Check24, however, demand rose most strongly for Turkey and Greece
. Air travel to Turkey has recently been booked twice as often as in 2019. The costs for both countries are currently eight percent higher than in the same period of the previous year. However, the prices for air travel to our neighboring country, the Netherlands, have risen particularly steeply - by 106 percent. Those who want to fly to Austria also pay an impressive 86 percent more.
