A group of historical leaders of the Buenos Aires UCR,
with Luis Brandoni as the main reference
, confirmed this Friday that it will present a third list in the STEP of Together for Change, which is why the attempts of the Head of Government,
Horacio Rodríguez Larreta
,
were frustrated.
to prevent it.
Spokesmen for the list, which will be called Adelante Ciudad, confirmed to Clarín that
Adolfo Rubinstein,
former Minister of Health of the Mauricio Macri government and a strong critic of
Alberto Fernández's
management
of the pandemic, will be the first candidate for deputy national.
Rubinstein will confront in the primaries on September 12 against the payrolls headed by
María Eugenia Vidal
, who will also take candidates from the official UCR who respond to
Martín Lousteau
, and that of
Ricardo López Murphy
, of a liberal matrix.
The ballot will be completed with the pedagogue
Mónica Marquina
, coordinator of Organized Parents (the entity that got the Court to endorse the opening of face-to-face classes), in second place, and the former mayor
Facundo Suárez Lastra
, who aspires to re-election, in third finished.
Then there will be
Ana Echegoyen, an
economist at the Alem Foundation, the think tank of the National Committee of Radicalism, where Jesús Rodríguez, another of the stokers on the alternative list, weighs, who chose to stay at the head of the General Audit of the Nation.
The fifth step was reserved for an illustrious surname: the biologist
Galo Soler Illia,
grandson of the radical hero and former president Arturo Illia, who has his own merits as the Konex prize for science.
Brandoni warned that it is not in his plans to return to Congress (he was a deputy under the guidance of
Raúl Alfonsín,
after having been an advisor on cultural issues during his government), although he will act as one of the promoters of the
virtual List 3
campaign
(the historical number of radical ballots) and will appear in the last position of the incumbent candidates for the Lower House:
number 13.
"The candidacies of Vidal and López Murphy do not represent the most
progressive
sector
of the City, so our list will be a contribution to reach that electoral strip and will contribute to the strengthening of Together for Change," Suárez Lastra told
Clarín
.
He also explained that in the distribution of positions "we prioritize the integration of leaders with radical identity and specialization in the issues that will be the axis of our campaign, such as
health, education, science and political struggle
."
On the other hand, he assured that in the collection of guarantees that they completed in a race against the clock (since this Saturday the presentation of lists closes), they gathered the signatures of other party leaders such as former Foreign Minister Adalberto Rodríguez Giavarini, the former Minister of Justice Ricardo Gil Lavedra, former Ambassador Carlos Pérez Llana and former Secretary of Energy Jorge Lapeña, as well as jurist Daniel Sabsay, among others.
Larreta's last attempt to prevent the UCR "rebels" from presenting a third list was to offer them the
eighth position
on Vidal's ballot and some positions in the City. After a brief consultation, the historic radicals decided to continue their march towards the electoral process.
