Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Zhao Lijian stressed today that the United States is not in a position to preach to China or make reckless comments about it.
"The United States' repeated assertion of dealing with China from a position of strength reflects its arrogance," Zhao was quoted by Xinhua as saying when asked about US Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman's upcoming visit to Tianjin, adding: "We do not accept that."
In response to the statements of the US State Department spokesman, Ned Price, in which he said that bilateral relations must have protective barriers so that competition does not turn into conflict, Zhao called on the United States to stop interfering in China's internal affairs, and stop distorting its image and harming its interests, pointing out that "These are the real protective barriers to bilateral relations."
Zhao considered that the so-called "competition, cooperation, conflict" approach pursued by the United States still classifies China as a competitor, provokes confrontation, and contains and suppresses Chinese development.
