Xiaoran arrived alone at the cosmetic surgery clinic in central Hangzhou in early May.
The surgeon recommended the 33-year-old internet celebrity to have liposuction on her arms and waist, as well as breast augmentation.
He wanted to do all three surgeries at the same time, which would cause him to spend more than five hours at a stretch on the operating table.
But two days after the intervention, Xiaoran, who has 130,000 followers on Weibo, the Chinese Twitter, continued to suffer from significant pain.
She was also struggling to breathe.
She was eventually admitted to intensive care before dying in mid-July from multiple organ failures and severe infection.
The clinic is now under investigation.
Local authorities said she lacked expertise and made mistakes during the response.
