Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin announced Thursday, July 22 measures to better control the possession of weapons, during a trip to Puy-de-Dôme in tribute to the three gendarmes killed by a madman in December.
"I will propose very soon to ban the acquisition and possession of transformed weapons of war which are in circulation today"
, declared the minister during a speech, transmitted to AFP, delivered to the gendarmerie of Ambert to which were attached the three soldiers killed on December 22 in Saint-Just by Frederik Limol, who was heavily armed.

, the entourage of the minister told AFP. Gérald Darmanin also referred to an article presented Monday in the Council of Ministers which aims
"to strengthen the prohibitions of weapons"
. The text has yet to be discussed in Parliament. He proposes
"to update the list of offenses"
leading to registration in the FINIADA file, which lists people who do not have the right to acquire or hold weapons. He therefore proposes the registration of those who have committed offenses
"relating to attacks on minors and the family,"
detailed the Minister's entourage. The article also provides for registering with FINIADA
"All the judicial decisions: judicial control, house arrest with electronic surveillance or any other decision pronounced by the judicial authority"
