Ricardo López, director of Infoguaymas, was assassinated in the municipality of Guaymas, Sonora, Mexico.
Violence against journalists in Mexico is intensifying.
Journalist Ricardo López, director of the InfoGuaymas portal, in Sonora, in northern Mexico, was shot to death on Thursday in a supermarket parking lot.
The communicator, who turned 47 on July 22, had denounced in a press conference that he had received threats from organized crime in March of this year.
"Exercising journalism in Guaymas is highly risky, although the complaint is already there, there are still threats," said López a few months ago.
The Attorney General of the State of Sonora initiated the corresponding investigation and indicated that it will inform the Special Prosecutor's Office for Attention to Crimes Committed Against Freedom of Expression (FEADLE), as it is an attack against a journalist.
This is the second murder of a journalist in less than a week and the seventh communicator executed in the country so far this year.
A few moments ago, journalist Ricardo López, from InfoGuaymas, was deprived of life in #Guaymas.
Code Red is activated and the corresponding investigation begins.
