More than 100 years have passed since the Maysaloun Battle, which was led by the then Minister of War, the heroic leader Yusef Al-Azma, but the battle’s feat is becoming more and more firmly established among the Syrians, as they have been facing the war on terrorism for more than 10 years, facing international and regional schemes and terrorist groups, making them more attached to their country and their national and historical symbols.
The 101st anniversary of the Maysaloon battle on July 24, 1920, immortalized in the memory of the Syrian people, especially the rising youth, is a milestone in the history of the Syrian resistance in confronting the aggression against Syria in its various forms until the evacuation of the colonizer and victory over terrorism.
Today is similar to yesterday and as the strikes of the National Army led by the hero Youssef Al-Azma in the Battle of Maysaloun forced the invading French forces led by General Gouraud, which entered the Syrian territories across the Lebanese border to stop in the Khan Maysaloun area near Damascus. In the face of the forces of evil, the aggression forced it to abandon its dreams of entering the holy land of the Levant, and achieved great victories in the field from Aleppo in the north to Daraa in the south, and from Latakia countryside in the west to the Iraqi border in the east.
And just as the great leader refused the ominous warning of Gouraud and surrendered in the face of ten thousand French soldiers equipped with the latest weapons, and he went out leading about four thousand soldiers along with a group of heroic volunteers, their number did not exceed 1500 fighters. He presented the martyrs and the wounded, led the battle against the enemies with honor and patriotism, and preserved a united Syria thanks to the cohesion of the people and the army.
Maysaloun, whose greatness and his heroic companions fought in an unequal battle in terms of numbers and equipment, still constitutes a heroic epic that emits the fragrant lessons and lessons embodied in the finest, purest, and greatest meanings of sacrifice, redemption, and confrontation in defense of the homeland. and maintain it.
