After the historic heat peaks that hit the American and Canadian West and left several dead, the fires have followed and do not seem to stop.

The fire season has only just begun and 80 large fires are already raging across the United States, where they have consumed more than 4,700 km² of vegetation.

1. In a

video posted Thursday on Twitter

, the fire chief of the UC Davis fire department, shows the violence of the Tamarak Fire, as his men circulate in their truck.

This fire south of Lake Tahoe is gaining momentum Authorities have ordered residents of several villages to evacuate the area and a portion of the Pacific Crest Trail, one of America's most popular hiking trails, had to be closed.

2. Across California, thousands of miles of overhead power cables run through cities, countryside and forests.

It only took one tree to fall on one of these lines to start a devastating fire this summer.

3. In the state of Oregon, it is the Bootleg fire that worries.

Some 2,100 firefighters also took turns trying to contain this blaze, already larger than the entire city of Los Angeles.

This fire started on July 6 and has already burned 399,000 acres, or just over 161,000 ha.

4. With extremely hot and dry weather, the huge Bootleg fire in Oregon escalated again and authorities ordered further evacuations.

The largest of 80 major fires currently active in the United States, spread overnight and is three times the size of metropolitan Detroit.

Some 2,000 people had to evacuate, more to follow in July.

State Governor Gavin Newsom who previously accused the operator of "greed and mismanagement" this week demanded that PG&E and other vendors "be held to account" and invest in their firefighting strategy.

More than 2,100 firefighters struggled to contain the vast Bootleg Fire that raged in southern Oregon near the border with California.

10. After

the fire in the town of Lytton in

early July, the province of British Columbia, in the west of the country, continues to report about 300 forest fires in its territory.

More than 2,500 residences were targeted Monday by an evacuation order while 15,500 others are under an evacuation alert, without obligation for the moment.

The province has recorded 13 more fires in the past 48 hours.
