A couple from Munich had to be rescued from a gravel bank near Vorderriß on Wednesday evening.
Instead of gratitude, there were reproaches for the helpers from the water rescue service and fire brigade.
Lenggries / Vorderriß - Around 8.45 p.m. the alarm went off at the Rapid Task Force (SEG) of the Bad Tölz water rescue service.
A 50-year-old woman from Munich had probably been hiking in the Vorderriß area with her 57-year-old partner.
"In doing so, they got lost and at some point came out down on the Isar," says Gabriel Hartl, head of the SEG.
Lenggries: People from Munich get lost while hiking - and dial the emergency number
"There the two could neither go back nor forward." To make matters worse, one of the two could not swim.
Since the Isar still has a lot of water, it was absolutely right to dial the emergency number, says Hartl.
Darkness makes the search difficult - fire brigades and helicopters illuminate the search area
Locating the trapped was not easy.
While the water watch started downriver from Vorderriß with a rafting boat, the active fire brigades from Fall and Vorderriß helped from the bank - with the search, but above all with the illumination.
“It was dark now,” says Hartl.
Finally, the Edelweiß 8 police helicopter from Munich was alerted, which also illuminated the search area.
Woman complains that the rescue was "unprofessional"
The SEG finally located the couple and took them to safe shore by boat.
The police finally drove the two, fortunately unharmed, to their parked car.
"Despite a quick and professional process of the rescue chain, the woman expressed her displeasure with all emergency services, because in her opinion they acted wrongly and were unprofessional," said the police press report.
"Your partner, on the other hand, revised the statement and offered the volunteer workers recognition."
Authorities are checking whether the couple can be billed for the operation costs
The authorities are currently checking whether they can be billed for the service.
For the volunteer rescuers, the mission ended around midnight.
Hartl still has a praise to distribute: "The cooperation with the police and the fire brigades worked really well."
