A new tool shed for the volunteer fire brigade has been debated in Murnau for half an eternity.

On Thursday, the topic was once again on the agenda in the municipal council.

One result: a feasibility study on the underground car park should be available by the end of November this year.

Murnau

- Rolf Beuting (ÖDP / Bürgerforum) had to put out a fire. Certainly only in a figurative sense, but the flames were already blazing high. After the mayor of Murnau did not appear at the annual meeting of the local military in June, the angry firefighters were unable to understand. They just wanted to know how and when they can finally get to their new house. "Little has moved since 2019," said fire department officer Michael Hosp from the CSU. Now Beuting has moved up symbolically with a large fire truck and a team car. He took Klaus Tworek, the market builder, and Karl Steingruber, the head of the municipal utilities, to a "large and positive meeting," as Hosp put it. Four days later on Monday of this weekKlaus Tworek gave a lecture in front of the assembled fire brigade team. Deleted, deleted, but now it's time to get to work.

The municipal council decided nothing on Thursday - and with that sent a clear signal: the plans remain the same.

The new operations center as well as an underground car park or a parking deck are being built on the old fairground next to the Rewe market.

In retrospect, you can ask yourself why two years had to elapse for this, when the location was already lashed in July 2019.

After the unmistakable message from the IBG Keller specialist office, the debate was over: With the exception of the area on Kellerstrasse, the alternatives do not meet the deadlines satisfactorily.

It's that clear in the analysis paper.

The schedule for the new fire station has been worked out. A feasibility study on the underground car park should be available by the end of November of this year. The Works Committee has set 25,000 euros for this. Questions about size, costs, access roads and use need to be clarified. "An underground car park no longer looks like it did 30 years ago," stressed Beuting, "you can imagine a lot more there". The municipal utilities bring a mobility hub into play, a station for offers such as car and bike sharing, charging stations for e-vehicles, bicycle parking spaces or a packing station. A park at this point, regardless of whether it is an underground car park or a parking deck, “could bring considerable added value for Murnau and future mobility,” explained Steingruber. The works committee is now talking about the underground car park, and every municipal council is allowed to participate.who wants, as the mayor made clear.

The architectural competition for the construction of the fire station is due in 2022. In the working group, they agreed on four premises that the planners must take up in their explanations: They should not forget the parking garage, think of communal apartments on the upper floor, parking spaces for the neighboring grocery store and the plans for a bypass road, which is especially Welf Probst (Free Voters) complained again. “We should be clear about where a tunnel can possibly be built,” he emphasizes. The state building authority has announced the first results of its examination for the end of 2021. From 2023, the market will involve citizens in the course of the design planning. In addition, the landfill in which contaminated sites are stored is being rehabilitated. Construction will finally start in 2024, which experience shows will take two to three years. The finance department confirms that Murnau has eight million euros in its investment plan. The administration has not yet provided any information on subsidies or the price of the parking spaces. "It is clear to everyone: the majority will stay with the community," said Beuting.

Like local councilor Hosp, who spoke as fire department adviser, the mayor described the timeline as realistic - and in the end addressed conciliatory words to the fire department, who had come to the meeting with about ten men: After all the back and forth, the tussle and talk, you had to have one Make a decision. "We owe that to the fire brigade."
